OASIS is an Interuniversity Italian research group made by Numerical Analysis researchers at the

- Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Bologna (UNIBO)

- Department of Mathematics and Physics, University of Campania (UNICAMPANIA)

- Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Ferrara (UNIFE)

- Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Firenze (UNIFI)

- Department of Environmental and Science Policy, University of Milan (UNIMI)

- Department of Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE)

The team has developed a meaningful expertise in numerical optimization, within both the classes of projected gradient methods and of the Newton and quasi-Newton methods. The behaviour of these methods has been analyzed on different architectures and in several application fields, such as statistical learning, large-scale data processing, reconstruction of medical and astronomical images. These skills originated the development of a number of scientific software packages, designed for scalar as well as multiprocessor architectures, some of which are internationally known.
